HIGHLANDS FIRE DEPARTMENT APPARATUS

District 7
District 7 is the designated unit number for the Highlands Fire Department Chief.  Our Fire Chief Harvey Little has held this designation since 1992.

District 7 is also the designated unit number for the Fire Chief Apparatus.  D-7 is a 1999 Chevy Suburban.  D-7 is equipped with the necessary communications equipment for emergency response.  D-7 serves as a command vehicle.

Engine-17

Engine 17 is a 2000 Pierce Saber fire apparatus.  It is equipped with a 1500 gpm pump and carries 1000 gallons of water in its tank.  Tested and true, Engine 17 was assigned as primary pumper during a recent butane pipline leak where it supplied 1500gpm of water for over 16 hours non-stop.  Fire/Rescue/Hazmat.

 

 

 

Tanker-17

Tanker 17 is a 3500 gallon tanker built by Pierce apparatus on a 2001 Kenworth chasis. It is capable of full fire suppression and carries a crew of three. Tanker 17 is a vital apparatus as much of our district is in rural area with limited water supply.




Brush-17

One of two new apparatus, Brush-17 has quickly become an important tool for the department.  Designed for accessing fires in difficult terrain, Brush-17 is a 2005 Chevrolet chasis and is department built.  Crew of four.

 

Squad-17

Squad-17 is a versatile apparatus, handling many types of calls, including structure fires. It is equipped for Hazmat response, can handle first response EMS incidents, triage capability for MCI as well as water rescue events.  Crew of three.



Water Rescue -17

Water Rescue 17 is a quick response watercraft equipped with life saving devices for extrication of personnel during water vessel emergencies as well as rescue of individuals in distress.

Engine-27

Engine 27 is a 2005 Pierce Contender apparatus equipped with a 1250gpm pump for full fire suppression as well as hazmat, rescue and EMS support.  Engine 27 carries 1000 gallons of water.  Engine 27 can carry a crew of six to the scene.



Brush-27

Brush 27 is built on a 2007 Chevrolet chasis.  From trash fires to wildlands grass and woods fires.  Brush 27 can go just about anywhere.  Crew of 3.
